Neobank Revolut has announced that it is making its in‑app artificial intelligence assistant, AIR, available to customers in Hungary. The feature will be rolled out gradually to users and replaces the traditional menu navigation with a chat interface intended to simplify everyday financial tasks.
What AIR can do
- Expense tracking and summaries: the assistant can answer specific questions about spending, for example summing up a month’s food expenses.
- Subscription and card management: it helps manage subscriptions and allows temporary blocking of lost bank cards.
- Investment information: customers using investment features can request quick updates on their portfolio’s current returns or the performance of individual stocks.
- Travel planning: AIR can create itineraries based on provided criteria, search for accommodation, and recommend local activities suited to the user’s budget.
Access and privacy
According to Revolut, the introduction of AIR does not change existing privacy settings. The company states that third‑party AI partners involved do not store customer data and do not use it to train external models. The assistant can be launched from the app’s home screen by swiping down from the center or accessed via the Profile menu under Chats.
Why this matters
A chat‑based financial assistant can streamline routine banking interactions and provide quick answers related to investments and travel planning. However, the credibility of the data‑handling assurances and the actual flow of information remain key factors for maintaining user trust.
