Anthropic launches ten finance agent templates, Microsoft 365 integration, and new data connectors

On May 5, 2026, Anthropic announced ten ready-to-run agent templates designed to speed up time-consuming financial services tasks such as building pitchbooks, screening KYC files, and running month-end closes. The templates are available as plugins for Claude Cowork and Claude Code and as cookbooks for Claude Managed Agents, enabling teams to deploy Claude on live financial work in days rather than months.

What each template provides and how to deploy them

Each template packages three components: skills (task instructions and domain knowledge), connectors (governed access to the data the task requires) and subagents (additional Claude models invoked for specific subtasks, e.g., selecting comparables or methodology checks). Firms can adapt templates to their modeling conventions, risk policies and approval workflows.

There are two deployment modes:

  • As a plugin inside Claude Cowork or Claude Code, running alongside the analyst and integrating with desktop software. For example, the Pitch agent can take a target list and return a comps model in Excel, a drafted pitchbook in PowerPoint and a cover note ready in Outlook.
  • As a Claude Managed Agent running autonomously on the Claude Platform for work that spans an entire book of deals or scheduled nightly jobs. The cookbooks include building blocks firms would otherwise engineer themselves: long-running sessions for multi-hour deal closes, per-tool permissions, managed credential vaults, and a full audit log in the Claude Console for compliance and engineering review.

In both modes, users remain in the loop—reviewing, iterating on and approving Claude’s outputs before they are delivered to clients, filed, or actioned.

The ten new agent templates

The templates fall into research/client coverage and finance/operations categories.

Research and client coverage

  • Pitch builder: creates target lists, runs comparables and drafts pitchbooks for client meetings;
  • Meeting preparer: assembles client and counterparty briefs ahead of calls;
  • Earnings reviewer: reads transcripts and filings, updates models and flags thesis-relevant changes;
  • Model builder: builds and maintains financial models from filings, data feeds and analyst inputs;
  • Market researcher: tracks sector and issuer developments, synthesizes news, filings and broker research, and flags items for credit and risk review.

Finance and operations

  • Valuation reviewer: checks valuations against comparables, methodology and the firm's review standards;
  • General ledger reconciler: reconciles general ledger accounts and runs net asset value calculations against the books of record;
  • Month-end closer: runs the close checklist, prepares journal entries and produces close reports;
  • Statement auditor: reviews financial statements for consistency, completeness and audit-readiness;
  • KYC screener: assembles entity files, reviews source documents and packages escalations for compliance review.

Microsoft 365: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook

Claude now works directly in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word via add-ins, with Outlook support coming soon. Once add-ins are installed, context flows automatically between applications so work begun in a model can move to a deck or memo without re-explaining background information.

Examples of capabilities:

  • Outlook: triage inbox, arrange meetings and draft responses in the user's voice;
  • Excel: build models from filings and data feeds, audit formulas across linked workbooks and run sensitivity analyses;
  • PowerPoint: draft decks that update automatically when underlying numbers change;
  • Word: edit credit memos against a firm’s own templates.

In Claude Cowork, users can also assign tasks via text or voice using Dispatch; Claude can continue working on analysts’ local files while they are away, returning completed work for review.

Expanded partner ecosystem and new connectors

Anthropic underlines that agent performance depends on the data and context they can access. Claude already connects to many market data and research platforms as well as firms’ internal systems, and the company added new real-time connectors plus an MCP app that embeds partner tools inside Claude.

New connectors include:

  • Dun & Bradstreet (global business identity and D-U-N-S® Number);
  • Fiscal AI (real-time fundamentals coverage across public equities);
  • Financial Modeling Prep (real-time quotes, fundamentals, statements, filings and transcripts across equities, ETFs, crypto, forex and commodities);
  • Guidepoint (searchable, compliance-reviewed expert interview transcripts and verbatim excerpts);
  • IBISWorld (industry-level revenue, financial ratios, risk scores, cost structures and forecasts);
  • SS&C Intralinks (DealCenter AI data rooms for document search, diligence Q&A and deal-activity tracking);
  • Third Bridge (access to primary-source expert interviews);
  • Verisk (property, casualty and specialty insurance data for underwriting, claims and risk analysis).

Additionally, Moody's launched an MCP app that brings proprietary credit ratings and data on more than 600 million public and private companies into Claude for compliance, credit analysis and business development use.

Model performance and positioning

Anthropic recommends pairing the updates with Claude Opus 4.7; the company states that this model leads the industry on Vals AI's Finance Agent benchmark with a 64.37% score.

Availability and next steps

The new Claude agents are available today on Anthropic’s financial services marketplace. Plugins for Claude Cowork and Claude Code are available on all paid plans; Managed Agents run on the Claude Platform (public beta) for programmatic use. The new connectors and Moody's MCP app are available to joint customers on paid plans. Claude add-ins for Excel, PowerPoint and Word are generally available; Outlook support is coming soon.

Anthropic is hosting a livestreamed keynote and a hands-on webinar to demonstrate the features, and sales and support channels are available for firms seeking to trial or integrate the technology.

Customer feedback

The announcement cites comments from leaders at institutions such as Citadel, FIS, BNY, Carlyle, Mizuho, Travelers, Walleye Capital and Hg, who highlight efficiency gains, improved engineering productivity and practical benefits across front, middle and back office workflows. Anthropic frames the updates as tools to augment human experts, with users retaining oversight and approval of outputs.
