LG Electronics (LG) has joined the NVIDIA Partner Network (NPN) and obtained preferred partner status for power and cooling solutions. The move strengthens LG’s position in thermal management for high-density AI data centers.
Why it matters
As AI models and the hardware that runs them increase in performance, data center heat loads are rising. That trend demands more advanced and efficient cooling technologies to maintain reliable operation. LG is expanding its portfolio of high-efficiency liquid-cooling products, which can be integrated early in data center design to provide a stable foundation for cooling systems and supporting infrastructure.
Products and certifications
- LG’s 2.6 megawatt (MW) Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) recently received NVIDIA DSX Ready CDU certification. This model is currently the highest-capacity offering among NVIDIA DSX Ready CDU partners.
- LG’s 600 kilowatt (kW) and 1 MW CDU models also met NVIDIA’s infrastructure qualification requirements. The qualification process evaluated cooling performance, fault tolerance, and reliability.
These certifications reinforce LG’s expertise in liquid cooling for high-density AI infrastructure and indicate that its technologies deliver efficient and reliable operation for global cloud providers.
Technology: Direct-to-Chip and hybrid cooling
LG’s CDU systems are designed to handle the substantial heat loads of AI infrastructures. The Direct-to-Chip (DTC) cooling approach delivers coolant directly to CPUs, GPUs and other high-heat components, enabling more effective heat removal. DTC can be combined with existing air-cooling infrastructure to create high-efficiency hybrid cooling systems that improve overall energy performance and thermal management.
Next steps
LG aims to obtain NVIDIA certification for its 4.0 MW CDU model by the end of the year, which would further expand its liquid-cooling portfolio for next-generation AI data centers.
Executive comment
James Lee, President of LG’s ES (Eco Solutions) Company, said joining the NVIDIA Partner Network and attaining preferred partner status for power and cooling solutions is an important milestone in the company’s strategy to support the global AI ecosystem. He added that collaboration with NVIDIA enables LG to offer advanced cooling solutions that address AI data centers’ key thermal challenges while supporting the development of next-generation infrastructure.
Summary
LG’s participation in the NVIDIA Partner Network and the DSX Ready/infrastructure certifications strengthen its position in the market for high-performance AI data center cooling. The certified 2.6 MW CDU, together with the 600 kW and 1 MW models, demonstrates LG’s capacity to supply scalable, high-efficiency liquid-cooling solutions for cloud providers and other high-compute customers.
