OpenAI announced on Wednesday that GPT-6 models will gain access to a new "Intelligent UI" feature. The feature is designed so that the chatbot can present more visual and fewer long text responses.
What the interface supports
According to OpenAI, Intelligent UI can display:
- graphics and diagrams,
- touchable, clickable buttons,
- embedded visualizations such as exploded views,
- interactive experiences within responses.
The company notes these elements are inserted automatically into ChatGPT responses when the model judges them to be useful in a given context.
Demonstration: exploded bicycle diagram
To illustrate the feature, OpenAI used a bicycle example: the AI produced an exploded-view diagram where each part had an associated visualization and a clickable button that let the user request more information about individual components — a demonstration reported by Gizmodo.
Initial availability
The Intelligent UI will be rolled out first to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers.
Why this matters
The change shows OpenAI's push to make language-model outputs more multimodal: visual and interactive elements can help users grasp complex information faster and reduce reliance on long textual explanations. The automatic embedding of such elements also raises questions about when and how the model decides to use them, which will be important as the feature is deployed more widely.
