Canyon Predict is a system architecture developed by Canyon engineers specifically for road bicycles, designed to increase rider safety by detecting and anticipating hazards the cyclist may not notice. The concept combines multiple sensors, local AI processing and rider-facing displays to provide situational awareness and preventative interventions.
System components
- 360-degree sensor array: multiple sensors monitor the surroundings to predict road hazards and assess the behavior of other road users.
- Radar and camera inputs: the bike’s onboard computer processes radar and camera data to create a situational picture.
- On-device processing: data is handled locally on the bicycle’s computer rather than on remote servers, reducing latency and dependency on cloud services.
- Display and AR integration: the concept bike includes a display integrated into the handlebar and can communicate with the manufacturer’s augmented reality helmet (Stingr). Information can also appear on the helmet’s fold-down visor.
Capabilities
- Hazard prediction: the system can warn riders in advance about dangerous situations on the road.
- Behavior and group dynamics monitoring: it evaluates the movements of other road users and tracks dynamics during group rides.
- Cornering advice: the system provides guidance related to cornering speed and approach.
- Ride data and alerts: beyond critical warnings, the interface can show distance and elevation data, terrain conditions, and comparative performance metrics when riding in a group.
- Emergency mechanical response: in the event of an incident, Canyon Predict can lower the saddle at the push of a button to reduce the rider’s center of gravity, potentially improving stability and ease of maneuvering.

Demonstration
Canyon presented the system on a concept demonstration bike featuring the handlebar display and AR-helmet connectivity; a demonstration video was also produced. Canyon Predict represents an integrated on-bike approach to active safety rather than a simple add-on accessory.
