On May 13, 2026, Anthropic announced Claude for Small Business, a toggle-install package that embeds the Claude assistant into the tools small businesses already use. The aim is to help owners adopt AI more fully and automate time-consuming operational tasks.
Why this matters for small businesses
Anthropic notes that small businesses account for 44% of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half of the private-sector workforce, yet they have trailed larger enterprises in AI adoption. Many tools and training programs are not tailored to how small businesses operate, so usage often stops at a chat window. As part of its public benefit mission, Anthropic is offering a solution designed to work inside the systems owners already rely on.
Which tools are supported
Claude for Small Business is enabled inside Claude Cowork and integrates with Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. From these integrations, Claude can plan payroll, close the month, run sales campaigns, chase invoices and more — but users review and approve any action before it sends, posts, or pays.
What the package includes
- 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows across finance, operations, sales, marketing, HR and customer service.
- 15 skills built on the repeatable tasks that business owners reported slow them down most.
Selected examples of skills and workflows:
- Payroll planning: reconcile your QuickBooks cash position against incoming PayPal settlements, build a 30-day forecast, rank overdue items and queue reminders for your approval.
- Month-end close: reconcile books to settlements, flag mismatches, write a plain-English profit & loss summary, and export a close packet you can forward to your accountant through Intuit QuickBooks.
- Business pulse: surface the most important business insights on a schedule on a single page — cash position via QuickBooks, sales trend, pipeline movement, weekly commitments and more.
- Campaign execution: find a slow stretch in revenue, analyze HubSpot campaign performance, draft the promo strategy and generate assets in Canva for the next send.
Other available functions include an invoice chaser, margin analyzer, month-end preparer, tax-season organizer, contract reviewer, lead triager, content strategist and more.
Early user impressions
The announcement quotes several customers, including Brian Ludviksen (COO, Purity Coffee), Mike Beckham (CEO, Simple Modern) and Ryan Olson (Technology and Innovation Manager, MidCentral Energy), who reported that Claude both solved problems they knew about and revealed previously unseen issues, while freeing staff from tedious clerical work.
How the integrations work with your stack
Through Claude Cowork, each connected tool handles specific responsibilities:
- PayPal: settlements, invoicing, disputes and refunds.
- Intuit QuickBooks: payroll planning, monthly close, cash flow, tax season prep and reconciliations that touch other systems.
- HubSpot: lead triage, customer pulse and campaign attribution.
- Canva: generates content for channels, enables team collaboration, publishes assets and tracks performance.
- DocuSign: sends contracts for signature, tracks status and files executed copies.

Built for trust and data protections
Anthropic cites a survey showing half of small business owners named data security as their biggest hesitation about AI. In response, Claude for Small Business is designed with controls:
- You stay in the loop: every task and workflow is initiated by the user; you approve the plan before it runs or opt to let it run end-to-end when ready.
- Existing permissions remain enforced: if an employee cannot see something in QuickBooks or Drive today, they will not see it through Claude.
- Anthropic does not train on customer data by default on its Team and Enterprise plans.

AI Fluency for Small Business — training with PayPal
Anthropic and PayPal offer a free online course, AI Fluency for Small Business, to teach owners and teams when and how to use AI in their operations. The course features small-business instructors who have integrated AI into their workflows — including Prospect Butcher Co. (Brooklyn) and MAKS TIPM Rebuilders (California) — and provides step-by-step guidance on safe, responsible and ethical AI use. The course is available on-demand starting May 13, 2026.
Amy Bonitatibus, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at PayPal, said the partnership equips small and medium-sized businesses with tools, expertise and infrastructure to compete in the evolving digital economy.
Claude SMB Tour — live workshops starting May 14
Beginning May 14 in Chicago, Anthropic is taking Claude for Small Business on the road with a free, half-day AI fluency training and hands-on workshop for 100 local small business leaders at each stop. The tour is hosted by Anthropic and partner Tenex.co with local partners at each location. Attendees receive a one-month Claude Max subscription to start integrating AI into day-to-day workflows.
Spring tour stops include: Chicago, Tulsa, Dallas, Hamilton Township, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, San Jose and Indianapolis. Anthropic thanked the Greater Cleveland Partnership and the National Talent Collaborative for piloting the concept in March, and said more cities will be added in the fall.
Partnerships with nonprofits and CDFIs
As a public benefit corporation, Anthropic is investing in partnerships to extend AI access to communities that have historically lagged in new technology adoption. Examples cited in the announcement:
- With Workday and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Anthropic supports the Workday Foundation Solopreneurship Accelerator Program. In 2026, the initial cohort of 15 aspiring solopreneurs will receive seed funding from the Workday Foundation, Claude credits from Anthropic and an AI-first entrepreneurship curriculum developed by LISC.
- Anthropic is partnering with three Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) — Accion Opportunity Fund, Community Reinvestment Fund USA and Pacific Community Ventures — providing Claude credits and technical support as they build AI tools to help more small businesses access funding. Pacific Community Ventures, for example, is using Claude to power its Radiant Data Hub, which collects and synthesizes voice-based feedback from small business clients and workers to improve offerings.
