Cyera signs LOI to buy AI-agent security specialist Oasis Security for about $1 billion

Data security firm Cyera announced on Tuesday that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Oasis Security for approximately $1 billion. The proposed transaction is expected to be paid mostly in cash, with the remainder settled in Cyera shares.

What Oasis Security does

Oasis Security focuses on protecting non-human identities, primarily AI agents. Its offerings monitor the behavior of these agents and manage their permissions to access other software — capabilities that become increasingly important as AI agents proliferate within enterprise environments.

Company background and funding

Founded in 2022, Oasis Security has raised about $195 million from investors including Accel, Craft Ventures and Cyberstarts, among others.

Why the deal matters

The planned acquisition highlights a growing market for cybersecurity solutions designed to defend organizations against threats that leverage AI. As automated agents and other non-human identities multiply, enterprises require tools to observe, govern and secure their actions.

Cyera’s position and integration plans

Cyera itself recently raised $600 million at a $12 billion valuation. The company said it intends to integrate Oasis’s technology into a unified identity and data security platform to broaden its protection capabilities for non-human identities.

Financials and recent acquisitions

Cyera has been active on the acquisition front, having bought Index Ventures-backed Ryft and the under-one-year-old Genie Security. The five-year-old company has raised about $2.3 billion in total funding and recently surpassed $150 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), though reports indicate it is not yet profitable.

Next steps

The signed letter of intent begins the process of finalizing the transaction; precise terms and timing will depend on the outcome of ongoing negotiations and customary closing conditions. After closing, Cyera plans to fold Oasis’s offerings into its platform to address AI-agent related security risks.
