Google describes Dreambeans as an experimental mobile app designed to reduce doomscrolling by providing a finite, curated set of stories each day. Instead of endless feeds, the app assembles 10–14 items daily intended to offer fresh ideas and relevant information without overwhelming the user.
How it works
With the user’s permission, Dreambeans accesses Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, YouTube and Search history. Google’s personal intelligence system compiles those inputs overnight into a concise, mixed-format story bundle. The same intelligence layer also powers the Gemini app and AI Mode.
The app’s name reflects its workflow: “dream” refers to the overnight processing—product lead Gozde Oznur explained that "while you sleep, the app processes everything in your connected apps"—and "beans" evokes the morning ritual of starting the day with a fresh cup of coffee and a concentrated inspirational dose.
Types of content
Dreambeans focuses mainly on lifestyle suggestions: sights to see, topics to explore, things to try, upcoming trips and events the user should know about. For each story the Google Nano Banana 2 image generator creates custom, watercolor-style illustrations. If the user allows, faces from Google Photos—either the user’s or friends’—can be painted into those images.
Google gives an example of how recommendations can combine signals: if a user receives a Gmail confirmation that their dog food has arrived and their calendar shows guests coming on the weekend, Dreambeans might surface dog-training tips and nearby dog-friendly restaurants.
Interaction and personalization
Users can tap a story to read more and save liked items as favorites in the app’s library for later. The app accepts feedback: if a recommendation is inaccurate, users can report that so future stories improve.
Privacy and user controls
According to Google, only the user can access their Dreambeans stories. Users may delete their data at any time and choose which Google services to connect to the app. Those choices do not affect access to other Google products.
Availability
Dreambeans is currently available only in the United States on Android and iOS for users aged 18 and older who have an active Google One AI Premium subscription. Others can join a waitlist.
