Huang: market sell-off is a buying opportunity as AI infrastructure build is only beginning

Jensen Huang, chief executive officer of Nvidia, called last week’s global technology stock sell-off a good buying opportunity and emphasized that the build-out of artificial intelligence infrastructure has only just begun, Bloomberg reported.

Speaking in Seoul after meeting with Cshö Thevonnal, chairman of SK Group, Huang told reporters that the industry is still at the start of the infrastructural work that will underpin an AI-driven future. “We are only at the beginning of the process, so whatever happened in the market, investors should be happy because they can buy now at discounted prices,” he said.

According to the report, South Korea’s Kospi index fell sharply on Monday after investors reduced positions tied to AI, which had previously helped power global equity gains. U.S. technology stocks had already slid on Friday amid concerns about interest rate increases.

Also on Monday, Nvidia and SK Hynix announced a multi-year agreement to jointly develop next‑generation, AI‑based memory chips. The collaboration is framed as a win for SK Hynix in its competition with Samsung Electronics in this fast-moving market.

SK Hynix shares pared losses after Li Dzsemjong, the president of South Korea, said on Monday that he believes the domestic market remains undervalued.

Huang, like many industry partners, has consistently argued that AI will transform large parts of the global economy, reshaping work and everyday life, which will in turn drive substantial demand for data centers and microchips. He said AI is becoming fundamental infrastructure for the world in a way comparable to the internet.

The Bloomberg report was the source for Huang’s remarks, the market moves in Kospi and the announcement of the Nvidia–SK Hynix partnership.
