Meta announced today a new Mac application for Meta AI that includes built‑in, system‑wide dictation. The company says the app can also inspect the user’s current screen and answer questions about that context using its Muse Spark model.
System‑wide dictation
According to Meta, the dictation feature works across all apps, similar to other tools such as Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, and Monologue. The announcement notes that Google updated its Gemini Mac app last month to offer a system‑wide dictation capability as well.
Business integrations and insights
The Mac release is part of a broader Meta AI update aimed at business owners. Meta says merchants can connect their Instagram and Facebook accounts, Meta ad campaigns, and Google Workspace accounts (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides) to Meta AI and then query the assistant for insights.
Meta AI can provide information about campaign performance and audience engagement metrics to help users understand which posts performed well. The company also said users can obtain intelligence on competitors based on publicly available data.
Proposal and document generation
With the new Meta AI integrations for business tools, the assistant can create proposal decks, draft documents, and spreadsheets, supporting marketing and sales workflows with generated materials.
Customer support and automation
Meta has increasingly emphasized bringing its AI tools to businesses for automated customer support and handling inquiries across its apps, including WhatsApp and Instagram. During the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said there is a significant opportunity to “sell agents to businesses and automate work on their behalf.”
Practical impact
The Mac app’s combination of system‑level dictation and screen‑aware responses aims to streamline content creation and decision‑making. The business integrations let marketers and merchants quickly access campaign and audience data and leverage AI to produce materials and respond to customers more efficiently.
