Spotify announced it will add a label to artist profiles that represent figures created entirely by artificial intelligence. The company plans to roll out the designation around mid-September; an exact Hungarian translation of the label has not been determined.
What the label means
The "AI Persona" tag will be applied to profiles where the performer is not a real person but an AI-generated figure. According to Spotify, music from AI performers will no longer be included in the platform's editorial playlists and will be excluded from its algorithmic recommendations.
The label will be displayed in multiple places: on the artist profile page, in the artist bio, in search results, and next to tracks in playlists.
Automatic detection and appeals
As detailed by TechCrunch, Spotify will not rely solely on self-reporting by creators. The system will also automatically scan artist pages to identify AI-generated creators. The scanning will start with profiles that meet a certain minimum listenership threshold, ensuring the platform first tags the most-listened-to non-existent artists.
Artists who believe they were incorrectly labeled as an "AI Persona" will have the opportunity to appeal the designation.
Why this matters
