Zyxel Networks has introduced GenAI Protection, a solution aimed at helping small and medium‑sized businesses (SMBs) and managed service providers (MSPs) govern and secure their adoption of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). The offering combines enhanced capabilities of Zyxel’s USG FLEX H‑series firewalls with a partnership with Heartbot AI Inc. (Heartbot AI) to integrate the AnyInsight.ai platform.
Why this matters
GenAI adoption is accelerating in workplaces, but many organizations struggle to control its use. A recent survey cited by Zyxel found that 44% of employees used AI in ways that conflicted with corporate policies, highlighting the growing problem of so‑called “shadow AI.” Without proper oversight, organizations risk data leakage, security gaps and compliance failures.
What the Zyxel firewalls provide
Zyxel’s USG FLEX H‑series firewalls give network administrators and business owners visibility and control over GenAI use on their networks through several features:
- GenAI content filtering: a dedicated application category lets administrators block all GenAI applications with a single click, selectively allow approved services, or redirect users to safer alternatives such as AnyInsight.ai.
- Application control: granular controls go beyond simple URL filtering, enabling IT teams to set priorities, restrict or block specific GenAI applications.

- Unified access platform: employees can switch between different LLMs and agents within a controlled environment where access is governed by roles and permissions, preserving productivity while ensuring control and compliance. Organizations can also deploy customizable AI agents tailored to specific tasks or workflows.
- AI application firewall: end‑to‑end context checks allow administrators to monitor all interactions among users, LLMs, agents and related applications. The platform logs user activity, data flows and AI interactions and enforces access policies and security rules to prevent exposure, misuse or compromise of sensitive data, knowledge or workflows.
