Bolt becomes first global ride-hailer to offer bookings via ChatGPT

Bolt has announced that it has become the first company worldwide to make its ride-booking functionality available via ChatGPT. The service is offered in Hungary as well as in European Union countries, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the company said.

How the integration works

The Bolt–ChatGPT integration is available as a plugin in the ChatGPT store. Passengers can initiate a ride request through the ChatGPT interface; the system displays an estimated cost, route options and the driver’s estimated time of arrival (ETA). The plugin can also suggest an optimal pickup point to reduce waiting time.

Booking confirmation and payment remain in the app for now

Although a booking can be started in ChatGPT, final confirmation still takes place in the Bolt mobile app: the details entered in ChatGPT are transferred to the app where the passenger confirms the ride. Payment is currently processed in the Bolt app as well, but the company plans to make in‑ChatGPT payment available at a later stage.

Why this matters

Bolt says the development fits the broader trend of increasing use of AI-based tools in travel planning. The company’s aim is to make ride ordering more accessible through conversational interfaces.

Summary

The integration allows users to plan and prepare rides via ChatGPT while keeping final confirmation and payment within Bolt’s app for now. The feature is available across multiple European markets and a few additional countries, and Bolt presents the move as aligned with the growing role of artificial intelligence in travel services.
