OpenAI is experimenting with a new ChatGPT capability called Writing style that aims to learn a user's way of communicating by drawing on examples from applications linked to the user's account, according to Bleeping Computer.
The feature is currently being trialed with a small group of testers. The feature's opening screen states that "ChatGPT will write in your style, based on examples from connected apps." In practice, this means a user can grant ChatGPT access to their messaging, document-editing and email applications.
OpenAI cites Slack, Google Drive, Gmail and Notion as examples of supported apps; the company has not specified whether additional applications can be connected. After configuration, the chatbot will be able to craft text—such as emails—in the user's characteristic tone based on samples from the connected apps, removing the need to specify the desired voice each time.
OpenAI has not yet announced when it will make the feature available to a wider audience.
