Meta has acquired Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI), a startup that develops artificial intelligence for robots, according to Engadget. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ARI builds AI intended to enable robots to solve practical challenges and potentially be used in labor-market applications. Meta has worked on robotics and AI previously; a Meta spokesperson told Bloomberg that ARI brings "significant expertise" that will help further that work, for example in areas such as self-learning and control.
An Assured Robot Intelligence co-founder wrote on X that Meta has the tools needed to achieve their goals. All of ARI’s leadership will join Meta Superintelligence Labs and will work under that unit to develop what they describe as a "general-purpose physical agent."
The acquisition strengthens Meta’s position in robotics and AI research, though the exact financial details and specific integration plans have not been released.
