On May 27, at the Marriott Hotel in Budapest, the AI in Energy 2026 conference will bring together practitioners and decision-makers to address practical questions about the digital transformation of the energy sector. The event targets those who expect concrete business outcomes from artificial intelligence rather than theoretical discussions.
Conference focus
The central theme is how data and energy can become concrete business resources in an increasingly data- and energy-intensive economy. The programme covers:
- ways to measure and monetize corporate data assets;
- mapping measurement architectures and types of information generated across energy companies;
- integrating algorithms into daily decision-making;

- assessing investments to distinguish genuine competitive advantage from costly, low-return developments.
Speakers and main topics
The opening keynote will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Aszódi Attila, who will examine the system-level impacts of artificial intelligence on the power sector and discuss how AI could transform power generation, supply security and system optimisation.
Simon Dezső, MAVIR IT és üzletfejlesztési vezérigazgató-helyettese, will present challenges and opportunities of AI from the system operation perspective. The programme highlights that operating the power system is becoming more complex due to the weather-dependency of renewable generation, the mass connection of decentralized producers, and the spread of energy storage and flexibility markets — making data-driven decision-making strategically important.
Practitioner perspectives will come from two E.ON experts, Káplár-Zagyi Evelin and Székely Magor Illés, who will demonstrate how AI-based decision-support systems can be applied in network infrastructure reconstruction and vegetation management. For network operation, forecasting, predictive maintenance and automated risk identification are increasingly important, especially as networks face higher loads than before.
One of the morning's key sessions is the panel “From meter to decision — how does data become strategy?”, moderated by Kabát Krisztián. Panel participants include Karagich Bálint, Kiss Gergely and Tőzsér Áron, who will discuss building strategic decisions from measurement data.
