Anthropic announced "Claude for Nonprofits" on December 2, 2025, a program designed to give civil society organizations discounted access to its models, new connectors to nonprofit platforms, and a free training course developed with GivingTuesday.
What the program includes

Discounted access: Eligible nonprofits can receive up to 75% off Anthropic’s Team and Enterprise plans. The Team plan targets smaller organizations that collaborate on shared projects and organizational knowledge; the Enterprise plan offers larger organizations additional security features and administrative controls. Discounted access covers Claude Opus 4.6, Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Haiku 4.5—Opus 4.6 for the most complex tasks, Sonnet 4.5 for sophisticated tasks like grant writing and program analysis, and Haiku 4.5 for near-frontier performance at higher speed.

Connectors to nonprofit tools: Claude already supports integrations with platforms such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Asana, Slack and Box. Anthropic is adding three open-source connectors specific to the social sector: Benevity (access to more than 2.4 million validated nonprofits for volunteering and donation searches), Blackbaud (CRM and fundraising tools for donor management, campaign tracking and giving optimization) and Candid (data about nonprofits and funders to discover organizations, grants and philanthropic opportunities). Anthropic says more connectors will follow.

Free training: AI Fluency for Nonprofits, created in partnership with GivingTuesday, is available at no cost through Anthropic Academy. The course is aimed at staff with little or no technical background and covers practical AI use for grant writing, program evaluation, donor engagement, organizational efficiency and similar tasks. Anthropic also published step-by-step guides for common nonprofit workflows such as grant-writing and impact reporting.
Pilots and real-world examples
Anthropic ran pilots with funders including Constellation Fund, Robin Hood and Tipping Point Community, working with more than 60 grantee organizations to understand how Claude can help produce funder-aligned proposals, analyze program impact, manage large-scale donor stewardship, and generate board and compliance materials.

The Epilepsy Foundation: Anthropic describes Sage, a Claude-powered assistant trained on more than 25,000 pages of epilepsy expertise. Sage is available 24/7 in five languages and supports 3.4 million Americans living with epilepsy.

IDinsight: the research organization reports that Claude helps teams work up to 16× faster on tasks such as making surveys field-ready, prototyping dashboards in hours instead of weeks, and drafting documentation.

MyFriendBen: using Claude Enterprise, their agents track up to 40+ programs per state to identify unclaimed benefits and tax credits; they report identifying over $1.2 billion in value for more than 70,000 households.
Other organizations named—such as International Rescue Committee, SkillUp and Robin Hood—use Claude to speed communication with local partners, analyze field data in time-sensitive settings, and automate coding or administrative work that would otherwise require more staff.
Partners and implementation support
Anthropic says it is collaborating with systems integrators and advisors including The Bridgespan Group, Idealist Consulting, Vera Solutions and Slalom to support nonprofits in strategy, impact measurement and organization-wide AI implementation. Partners such as Blackbaud, Benevity and Candid will provide sector-specific data and tools to be used through Claude connectors.
Why it matters
The program aims to lower barriers for nonprofits wanting to adopt AI by combining reduced costs, connectors into existing platforms, and practical training. Anthropic emphasizes lessons learned from partners: AI is most effective when it integrates into existing workflows, respects community privacy expectations, and remains affordable.
