Anthropic has released ten ready‑to‑use AI agent templates designed for financial institutions to automate and support some of the sector’s most time‑consuming workflows. The company also announced Claude integrations with Microsoft 365 applications and introduced new data connectors and MCP apps for partner integration. These capabilities run most effectively with the Claude Opus 4.7 model.
What are the agent templates?
The agent templates are reference architectures composed of three main elements: the task‑specific expertise and instruction set, connectors that provide governed access to data sources, and various subagents. Subagents are additional Claude models invoked by the primary agent to handle specific subtasks such as comparative analysis or methodological checks. Anthropic says the templates can be adapted to firms’ internal modeling conventions, risk‑management rules and approval workflows.
The ten templates — what they do
The templates cover research, client coverage and financial operations. Key agents and their responsibilities include:
- Pitch builder: running comparative analyses and producing investor presentations.
- Meeting preparer: assembling client dossiers ahead of meetings.
- Earnings reviewer: processing financial reports and announcements.
- Market researcher: tracking market developments, summarizing news, filings and broker research, and flagging items for credit or risk review.
- Model builder: creating and maintaining financial models.
- Month‑end closer: supporting month‑end close processes.
- General ledger reconciler: reconciling ledger accounts and calculating net asset value from books.
- Statement auditor: auditing financial statements.
- KYC screener: preparing client files and surfacing problematic cases for compliance review.
- Valuation reviewer: comparing valuations against peer deals, methodology and internal audit standards.
Templates can be combined and extended: for example, a Pitch agent can produce an Excel‑based comparative model, a PowerPoint investor deck and an Outlook cover note from a target list.
Deployment options
The templates are available as plugins in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, and as cookbooks for Claude Managed Agents. Anthropic says production deployment can take only a few days. Claude Managed Agents can also run standalone on the Claude Platform to process full transaction portfolios or scheduled overnight runs; the system supports long‑running sessions, asset‑level access control, a managed credential store and full audit logs. Human oversight remains: users review, edit and approve Claude’s outputs before they reach clients or trigger substantive actions.
Microsoft 365 integration
Anthropic announced that Claude is now directly available inside Microsoft 365 apps via add‑ins: Excel, PowerPoint and Word are already supported, with Outlook support coming soon. Once installed, the add‑ins enable context to flow automatically across apps, so work started in a model can be completed in a presentation without re‑explaining the background to the AI.
Office integrations cover different tasks by app:
- Outlook: triaging incoming mail, scheduling meetings and drafting replies in the user’s style.
- Excel: building financial models from reports and data sources, auditing formulas across linked workbooks and running sensitivity analyses.
- PowerPoint: creating presentations that auto‑update when source data changes.
- Word: drafting credit memos tailored to a firm’s templates.
A Dispatch feature allows users to issue tasks by text or voice; Claude works in the background so the completed materials are review‑ready when the analyst returns to their desk.
New data connectors and MCP apps
Anthropic has expanded Claude’s data‑source ecosystem with several financial and market providers. Newly announced connectors include:
- Dun & Bradstreet (global verified company data)
- Fiscal AI (real‑time equity fundamentals and prices)
- Financial Modeling Prep (financial statements, prices and transcripts of analyst calls)
- Guidepoint (searchable transcripts of more than 100,000 compliance‑checked expert interviews)
- IBISWorld (industry revenue data, financial metrics and forecasts across thousands of sectors)
- SS&C IntraLinks DealCentre (virtual data rooms for transactions)
- Third Bridge (primary‑source expert interviews on companies and sectors)
- Verisk (property, casualty and specialty insurance data)
Notably, Moody’s launched its own MCP app, exposing more than 600 million credit‑rating records for public and private companies directly within Claude — data useful for credit risk analysis, compliance work and business development.
Claude had already integrated with providers such as FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, MSCI, PitchBook, Morningstar and LSEG; the new partners further broaden governed, real‑time data access.
Availability and rollout
The new agents are available on Anthropic’s financial services marketplace. They can be used as plugins with paid plans in Claude Cowork and Claude Code, and programmatic integration is available via the public beta of the Claude Platform. Anthropic emphasizes governed access controls and full auditability to meet financial and compliance teams’ requirements.
Why this matters for finance
The templates and integrations aim to reduce manual, repetitive work, accelerate document and data processing, and provide auditable workflows. The expanded data connections and Microsoft 365 integration are designed to streamline analysts’ day‑to‑day work with Excel models, presentations and client materials.
Note: the topic of bank AI adoption will also be featured at the Portfolio Financial IT conference on May 28.
