Cover grid infrastructure costs: Anthropic says it will pay 100% of the grid upgrades needed to interconnect its data centers, funding those costs through increases to its monthly electricity charges. This includes shares of those costs that would otherwise be passed on to consumers.

Procure new power and protect consumers from price increases: the company will work to bring net-new power generation online to match its data centers’ electricity needs. Where new generation is not yet online, Anthropic will work with utilities and external experts to estimate demand-driven price effects and cover those impacts.

Reduce strain on the grid: Anthropic is investing in curtailment systems that reduce its data centers’ power use during peak demand periods and in grid-optimization tools, both intended to help keep rates lower for ratepayers.
Local investment and jobs
Anthropic states its current data center projects will create hundreds of permanent jobs and thousands of construction jobs. The company also commits to acting as a responsible neighbor by addressing environmental impacts—such as deploying water-efficient cooling technologies—and partnering with local leaders to share the benefits of AI more broadly.
Scope and leasing arrangements
When Anthropic works with partners to develop data centers that handle its own workloads, it says these commitments will be made directly. In cases where the company leases capacity from existing data centers, it is exploring additional ways to address the price effects of its workloads.

Anthropic emphasizes that company-level action alone is insufficient to keep electricity affordable.
