According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will unveil a new smart-home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday. Gurman reports the device will be Siri-powered, include a display, and run on an A18 chip, enabling users to control their other smart-home products through it.
Two models for different placements
The HomeView is said to come in two versions: one designed for countertops and similar surfaces, and another intended for wall mounting. The dual-model approach is meant to accommodate different household layouts and usage scenarios.
Why this matters for Apple
If confirmed, the HomeView would represent Apple’s most serious hardware push into the smart-home market to date. Apple previously struggled to gain widespread adoption with its HomeKit software framework and with the HomePod smart speaker; the HomeView signals a renewed effort that combines a dedicated display and Apple silicon.
Other expected announcements
Gurman also reports that Apple will present updated models of the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini on Tuesday. Earlier this week he said Apple plans to announce a partnership with LG to develop a smart lock, a thermostat, and a doorbell.
Summary
Per Bloomberg’s reporting, the HomeView will be a display-equipped, Siri-driven hub powered by an A18 chip, available in countertop and wall-mounted models. The launch, coupled with hardware updates and a manufacturer partnership, indicates Apple is intensifying its engagement with the smart-home sector.
