Amazon Web Services (AWS) is launching a free three-month AI training program in Hungary and 17 additional Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. Participants in the AWS AI Get Certified Challenge will receive premium access, at no charge, to AWS Skill Builder courses covering AI, machine learning and generative AI for three months.
Program offerings
- Three months of premium access to AWS Skill Builder AI, machine learning and generative AI learning content.
- Three training levels, ranging from introductions to AI fundamentals through technical tracks for machine learning practitioners to advanced paths for developers building generative AI systems.
- Participants who complete the learning requirements successfully are eligible for a 50 percent discount on an official AWS AI certification exam.
Registration is open until 15 August 2026. Learning materials will be made available at the end of August, and official certification exams will be offered in November and December.
Why AWS is launching the initiative
AWS frames the program as a response to an AI skills shortage across Europe. Research commissioned by AWS found that 54 percent of European businesses are now using artificial intelligence, up from 33 percent two years earlier. At the same time, 44 percent of companies identified a lack of AI and digital skills as a key barrier to wider AI adoption. The research also reported that companies increased AI investments by an average of 26 percent in 2026.
Hungary is part of a CEE technology ecosystem that includes more than two million developers. Developers from the region represent 18 percent of the global developer community and nearly half of developers in the EMEA region.
Gianni Romolo, AWS’s head of Central and Eastern Europe expansion, said: “Central and Eastern Europe not only uses AI, it builds it.” He added that the new program provides a clear pathway for Hungarian developers from learning to professional certification.
Target audience
The initiative is aimed primarily at developers and technology professionals. The tiered structure allows less-experienced participants to learn AI fundamentals while enabling experienced engineers to pursue advanced, generative AI development topics.
