Around 14:00 local time in the afternoon, users encountered problems with ChatGPT: the website would load but the chatbot failed to respond to prompts, ultimately returning an error after a brief processing period. The iOS mobile app sometimes worked, but there were also instances where it displayed similar error messages to those seen on the web interface.
According to DownDetector, the number of incident reports rose sharply after 14:00. OpenAI's status page acknowledged the issue and indicated that it primarily affected guest users — those interacting with ChatGPT without signing in. OpenAI engineers began investigating and working to resolve the problem.
Update: the service was reported to be restored shortly after 15:00, with ChatGPT responding to requests again.
