London-based Flipper Devices — known for the Flipper Zero device — has introduced the Busy Bar, a dedicated productivity display the company first announced last year. Sales and shipping to the U.S., EU, U.K. and Canada will begin on July 14.
What the Busy Bar does
The Busy Bar is designed to provide visible and audible signals to support focused work. It can show custom messages, Pomodoro-style timers, status indicators and widgets, and it can enforce app blocking during productivity intervals to reduce interruptions in home-office environments.
Hardware and connectivity
- Front: a 72×16 LED matrix with up to 400 nits of brightness and support for 16 million colors; an ambient light sensor automatically adjusts brightness.
- Back: a monochrome status screen displays timer, battery and connectivity information so you can see status even if the main display faces away.
- Side: a small speaker for custom sounds and notifications.
- Top: a mode selector switch, a start/stop button, an indicator and a scroll wheel for navigating menus and setting the time.
- Connectivity: Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and USB.
Battery and charging
The Busy Bar includes a 3250 mAh battery. According to Flipper Devices, it offers up to eight hours of active runtime and up to two weeks of standby time. With a 15W adapter the company says the device can be fully charged in about one hour.
Software, integrations and developer tools
Flipper Devices will release apps for iOS, Android and macOS, with Windows support planned later. On iOS and Android users can block selected apps using different timer types. A macOS microphone integration lets the Busy Bar display an "on call" status and mute notifications when joining meetings or starting recordings/streams.
The device is Matter-certified, enabling interoperability with Amazon, Apple and Google smart home ecosystems and allowing smart home automations to be triggered by the Busy Bar’s status.
For developers, the Busy Bar ships with open firmware and supports an open HTTP API, MQTT, plus official Python and TypeScript libraries for building widgets and components. The device can also be controlled remotely via Flipper Devices’ cloud API.
Pricing and availability
Interested buyers can join a waitlist to purchase the Busy Bar at a special price of $179. When general sales open, the first 3,000 purchasers can buy the device for $199; thereafter the retail price will be $249. Shipping and sales start on July 14 to the U.S., EU, U.K. and Canada. Flipper Devices also plans accessories such as wall mounts, screen protectors and custom switches.
