Foxconn's Komárom plant scales with AI demand, sees capacity as time-limited rather than finite

Cloud Network Technology Kft., the Foxconn Group unit operating the Komárom plant, reported USD 7.8 billion in revenue for 2025 and could rank among Hungary’s three largest companies this year, according to an interview with Tálos Péter, Vice President of Foxconn Group. The Komárom facility mainly manufactures server cabinets and also produces network equipment; the revenue surge is driven by rapidly growing demand for AI-related hardware.

What fuels the expansion?

Tálos explained that global demand for AI hardware is expanding exponentially and serves as the main engine behind the Hungarian plant’s rapid growth. The Komárom site’s increased revenue stems largely from server-cabinet production, while AI hardware dominates the Enterprise Solutions business line’s product mix.

As a globally active group, Foxconn maintains partnerships with the largest market players and the Komárom plant supplies some of them, but the company did not disclose specific customer names because it is a publicly traded group.

Employment and capacity

The Komárom plant currently employs roughly 2,700 people; headcount rose only marginally this year, so workforce growth lagged well behind revenue growth. Tálos noted that Foxconn’s economic weight—measured as GDP contribution per employee—is greater than the employee count alone suggests.

The company says expansion is always possible: if demand persists, Foxconn is prepared to increase capacity. The vice president framed capacity limits primarily as a question of time—how quickly additional capacity can be brought online—rather than as a fixed constraint. Removing the time factor, he argued, there are no intrinsic limits to growth.

Labor supply and foreign workers

Over the past year the local labor supply has tightened relative to market needs, so the company for the first time in a long while employed foreign workers to support expansion. Tálos distinguishes Slovakian Hungarians from other foreign workers because of Komárom’s cross-border labor market: the city effectively operates as a single economic area across two countries.

He warned that if the government implements planned restrictions on guest workers, it would create a new situation because domestic labor resources would not be sufficient to sustain the company’s growth.

Views on AI’s trajectory and national strategy

Despite public debate and concerns about large AI models, Tálos said he has not observed a market slowdown. He expects that the development of AI models will continue to drive exponentially increasing resource needs, and those resources must be produced.

Tálos regards AI as ushering in a fundamentally new era that will reshape economies and thinking. To better capture the global AI upswing, he recommends Hungary develop a dedicated medium- to long-term AI strategy as part of economic planning, drawing on the experiences of countries that already have such strategies, for example the United Kingdom.

Energy policy must be an integral part of such a plan. From his perspective, Hungary’s current energy situation is not bad, but the lifespan of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant should be extended. He also suggested that realizing an AI strategy might require reassessing options such as Paks II to meet increased energy demands.

Market position and year-end expectations

Based on 2025 turnover data, Foxconn Hungary ranked as the country’s fourth largest company; Tálos believes it is plausible the firm could reach the podium in 2026. He added he would be somewhat disappointed if the company ended the year only third after rising from fourth place the previous year.
