On Tuesday both the Spotify music platform and Anthropic's artificial intelligence service Claude experienced significant service disruptions. According to reports on the outage tracker Downdetector, the largest number of reports came from the United States: more than 17,000 users reported issues with Spotify and over 11,000 reported problems with Claude.
The outage also impacted users in other countries: in Hungary several hundred users reported accessibility problems, as noted by Index.
Company responses and recovery
Both companies responded quickly to the surge of complaints. Spotify posted on X that it was aware of the disruption and was investigating the root cause. Anthropic likewise confirmed it had observed an increased error rate in the Claude system and said it was working to identify technical causes and restore service.
A later update indicated that both services had been restored: Spotify and Anthropic announced that they had addressed the issue and systems were operational again.
Why this matters
The incident highlights how simultaneous outages at global platforms can affect tens of thousands of users within a short period and that the impact is not limited to primary markets: the disruption produced localized reports in other countries, including Hungary. The event underscores the importance of service reliability and prompt communication from providers when widespread issues occur.
