Google and Codecool have partnered to make more than 3,000 scholarship seats available in Hungary for the Google AI Professional Certificate. The scholarship places are reusable: when a participant completes the program successfully, their freed slot can be reassigned to a new applicant.
What the program includes
Access is provided through Coursera, where participants can take the full online course. The program consists of 8 modules, can be completed in approximately 8 hours, and contains more than 20 practical exercises. After successful completion, participants receive an official Google certificate and three months of free access to Google AI Pro.
The course is delivered in English, requires no prior AI or programming knowledge, and is designed for self-paced online study. The training must be completed by December 31, 2026.
Skills developed
The certificate aims to spread practical AI skills beyond technical roles. Participants learn how to use AI for ideation and planning, research and information processing, producing communication and visual content, data analysis, and building their own AI-powered tools that do not require programming skills.
Corporate and individual participation
Codecool plans to involve 10–15 corporate and institutional partners; each partner may provide access for up to 500 employees or students. Partner organizations decide how to select participants. In addition to the partner program, Codecool will offer a limited number of free places to individual applicants.
Applications are handled via Codecool’s website for corporate, institutional and individual applicants.
Why it matters
The initiative seeks to make AI competencies available across wider employee groups, not only within IT departments. This is significant because AI tools are increasingly part of everyday workflows across functions such as communication, content creation and project planning, and effective use requires new skills.
Statements from organizers
Bálint Viktor, CEO of Codecool, noted that AI skills are no longer relevant only to IT professionals and that Codecool’s regional experience informed the design of a program that delivers real value to both employees and employers. Bíró Pál, Country Manager of Google Hungary, said the partnership provides more than 3,000 reusable scholarships so that as many Hungarian professionals as possible can acquire AI skills applicable to daily work.
Summary
The Google–Codecool collaboration can expand access to practical AI training for thousands of Hungarian workers through free, English-language online courses. The arrangement is particularly useful for companies that want to scale internal AI skills development without large additional training budgets.
