HONOR is positioning artificial intelligence not as a stand-alone, eye-catching feature but as an invisible engine that supports everyday phone use. The company’s Magic product line and the new HONOR 600 series aim to embed intelligence deeply into the device so that imaging, network stability and overall performance are automatically optimized without direct user intervention.
Intelligence running in the background
"The development of AI in mobile phones has moved from flashy features to intelligent systems that operate in the background," said Songjian Shi, HONOR AI architect and product manager. Shi added that the goal is for users not to have to manage AI explicitly — the device itself should become faster, more personalized and more efficient.
In the collaboration between the HONOR 600 Pro and MagicOS, AI primarily supports background processes. The AiMAGE system, for example, automatically fine-tunes exposure, image stabilization and color, enabling better photos in low or extreme lighting conditions. The system also analyzes user habits continuously: it preloads frequently used apps and intelligently allocates resources so the device remains responsive over time.
Features that interpret user intent
HONOR’s approach is that technology should adapt to people. Accordingly, the 600 series is designed not only to execute commands but also to infer user intent. Notable features include:
- AI Image-to-Video 2.0: creates professional short videos from still images based on text instructions.
- AI Photo Agent: simplifies photo editing by performing retouching automatically when the user describes the desired result.
- Dedicated AI button: recognizes on-screen content and immediately offers relevant actions such as translation, summarization or creative tools.
Moving toward agentic, cross-app assistants
The HONOR 600 series represents a step toward agentic smartphones. The HONOR AI Agent concept integrated into MagicOS envisions a future where the phone can autonomously handle complex tasks that span multiple apps — for example organizing travel or structuring information — with minimal user input. The system combines fast, secure on-device processing with cloud computing resources.
Shi argues that AI is evolving from application-level features to device-wide intelligence. HONOR’s stated objective is to build phones that can take over routine tasks and act as reliable digital assistants in daily life.

HONOR develops its AI solutions around three principles: usefulness, transparency and user control. The company says every AI feature should address a real problem, users should understand how and why a technology works, and the ultimate decision-making power must remain with the user. In this vision, future intelligent devices should simplify everyday life quietly, safely and reliably rather than demanding attention.
