Hungary reached a new tech milestone with the appearance of the first Hungarian-developed application on the ChatGPT Apps marketplace. The Hungarian Fintech Explainer, built by PeakX, was approved by OpenAI on May 9, 2026, and runs directly inside the ChatGPT interface, making content from the fintech.hu professional portal available to users in a conversational format.
What the app does and why it matters
The Hungarian Fintech Explainer transfers a traditional media platform’s knowledge base into an AI-native environment. Users can ask questions about fintech, banking innovation, or artificial intelligence, and the app suggests relevant fintech.hu articles, analyses, podcasts and background materials during the conversation. The developers position this model as an alternative to keyword searches and lengthy article browsing, offering users information through natural-language dialogue.
Development and approval timeline
PeakX uploaded the application to OpenAI’s system in December 2025. The review and approval process took nearly four months; the company says OpenAI was evaluating a large volume of AI apps during that period. At the end of the process, the Hungarian Fintech Explainer emerged among the first few hundred globally approved ChatGPT Apps.
Placement on the marketplace and peers
The Hungarian app appears on the marketplace alongside international names such as Booking and Revolut. Traditional media brands remain relatively rare on the platform; fintech.hu is listed next to outlets like the French Le Parisien. The ChatGPT Apps ecosystem already contains well-known service providers such as Uber, Zillow, Canva and Spotify.
Market context and user numbers
PeakX founder Suppan Márton says ChatGPT could evolve into a kind of “superapp” where users manage a large share of their digital activities through a single interface. Industry estimates cited in the announcement state that in early 2026 some 1.7–1.8 billion people used an AI-based tool, with roughly 500–600 million active daily users. Analysts expect AI platforms to create a new type of digital infrastructure in coming years, with significant implications for how people search for information and consume content.
Next steps
PeakX says it does not intend to stop at the first Hungarian ChatGPT App: the company is already working on integrations for other firms to make their services available within the ecosystems of ChatGPT, Claude and other future AI platforms. These efforts are part of a broader shift from traditional web and mobile presences toward AI-centered service integrations.
