ICON Real Estate Management has deployed four complementary technologies to strengthen asset and personal security for its clients: an autonomous robot dog, an automated drone, thermal imaging for early fire detection, and AI-based video analytics. The company frames the package as a way to support security staff and enable faster, preventive responses.

Robot dog: corridor patrol and event detection

The new robot dog in ICON’s toolkit patrols pre-programmed routes without human intervention using built-in GPS. Beyond navigation, the device performs posture analysis to detect critical human positions — for example, someone lying on the ground, crouching, or the onset of a physical altercation — and automatically responds to alarm sounds such as glass breaking, shouting or calls for help. The robot dog can also receive and independently verify signals from other systems, including fire alarms, access control and other security devices.

Hardware and robotics vendors provide the technical platform, while ICON adapts and fine-tunes the system for real operational environments: ICON defines patrol routes, behavioral logic and the criteria that the developer uses to calibrate the dog’s sensors.

Autonomous drone: round-the-clock aerial oversight

ICON’s automated drone can take off from its base without a human pilot and provide continuous aerial surveillance over large, hard-to-see logistics sites. The drone carries a wide-angle camera, a zoom camera capable of license-plate identification, and an integrated thermal sensor that reliably detects human presence at night. A deck-mounted spotlight and an AI-driven alarm system help quickly identify intruders; the drone can also use an onboard speaker to instruct detected individuals to leave the premises.

Thermal cameras in parking: early fire detection and prevention

To address new fire-safety challenges in parking structures and underground garages, ICON offers thermal-camera monitoring that detects early signs of battery thermal runaway. Because the initial phase often produces neither smoke nor flame, conventional detectors may react too late. Thermal systems continuously analyze surface temperature changes and can alert at the first sign of overheating. They distinguish normal from abnormal temperature patterns and — according to preprogrammed rules — can even stop charging, shifting the focus from extinguishing fires to preventing them.

AI video analytics: recognizing more than 150 incident types

The fourth component is an AI-based video analytics solution that analyses camera footage in real time and flags suspicious or abnormal events automatically. When the software detects an attack, accident, physical conflict, unauthorized intrusion or other risky situation, it issues an alert so security personnel do not need to monitor dozens of feeds continuously. The server-side solution integrates with existing camera installations without wholesale replacement of infrastructure. ICON states that the latest algorithms can distinguish more than 150 different incident and behavior types, and the AI can be trained to monitor and analyse additional behaviors to maximize asset and personal protection.
