iOS 27 to Bring Photo AI Tools and Bug Fixes Alongside Apple Intelligence Upgrades

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 at its early June developer event, focusing largely on stability and fixes while introducing new AI-based editing tools in the Photos app.

With about two months to go before Apple’s annual software announcements, reports indicate that iOS 27 will prioritize fixes and stability for iPhone software while also introducing new features. Alongside improvements to Apple Intelligence and Siri, the update is expected to add AI-powered tools to the Photos app, according to Bloomberg.

The Photos app already offers basic editing controls such as contrast adjustments, filters, and an AI-based object removal tool referred to in the report as Tisztázás. Bloomberg says that in iOS 27 the Tisztázás tool will be part of the “Apple Intelligence tools.” New additions named in the report include:

  • Extend: can modify a photo’s background.
  • Enhance: automatically improves brightness and overall image quality.
  • Reframe: allows changing the perspective or framing of an image after it has been taken.

These features would bring Apple more in line with major competitors that already offer advanced on-device photo editing, notably Google and Samsung.

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 and other system updates in early June at its usual developer event. While the Bloomberg report lists these tools and naming, the precise implementations and any further details will be confirmed at Apple’s official presentation.

Key points

  • Primary aim of iOS 27: bug fixes and increased stability.
  • Photos app to receive multiple AI-driven editing tools (Tisztázás, Extend, Enhance, Reframe).
  • Some features will be grouped under Apple Intelligence.
  • Official reveal expected in early June.
