KPMG, a global professional services firm providing audit, tax, legal and advisory services across 138 countries and territories, announced on May 19, 2026 a worldwide strategic alliance with Anthropic to integrate the Claude AI into its core business.
Embedding Claude into Digital Gateway and the workforce
Under the agreement, Anthropic’s Claude will be embedded into KPMG’s Digital Gateway platform — the primary workspace KPMG professionals and clients use. Digital Gateway runs on Microsoft Azure and unites KPMG’s tax expertise, proprietary tools and client data.
The rollout starts with new tax and legal tools for clients, and KPMG says every one of its more than 276,000 employees worldwide will gain access to Claude. This expansion builds on two years of internal adoption inside KPMG US, including use in the firm's AI and Data Labs.
Claude Cowork and Managed Agents enable faster development
With Claude Cowork and Managed Agents integrated into Digital Gateway, KPMG professionals and clients can build new AI capabilities directly in the platform. Tasks that previously required switching between tools, chat windows and weeks of work can now be completed in minutes, KPMG says.
Rema Serafi, Vice Chair, Tax at KPMG US, described how creating an AI agent to help clients adapt to changing tax regulations once took weeks, whereas the integrated Cowork and Managed Agents shorten that timeframe dramatically.
Preferred partner for private equity and co-developed products
Anthropic has named KPMG a preferred partner for private equity. The two companies will jointly build new Claude-powered products for private equity portfolio companies, giving those businesses direct access to Claude to develop AI-driven products, processes and services.
KPMG has created a new portfolio of PE-focused offerings, including KPMG Blaze, which can embed Claude Code to help modernize legacy IT systems faster and accelerate delivery of AI-enabled technologies.
Cybersecurity and Trusted AI governance
Cybersecurity is a key application area: KPMG and Anthropic teams will use Claude to identify and remediate vulnerabilities in critical systems. That work will be guided by KPMG’s Trusted AI framework, which emphasizes security, trust and governance as capabilities are scaled to clients and employees.
Research on the human role in AI deployments
Joint research by KPMG and the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin is exploring how the value of AI deployments depends on what people do alongside the technology. The research finds that the greatest benefits come not only from technical adoption but from how employees apply judgment, shape workflows, interact with the technology, evaluate outputs, and make decisions together with AI.
Ethan Burris, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at McCombs, said the study clarifies what a ‘human in the loop’ should actually be doing to realize value from these tools.
