ChatGPT remains Hungary's most-searched AI, Google Gemini second

Google Trends data show that Hungarian searches for ChatGPT remain roughly three times those for Google Gemini, though globally the gap is smaller (about 1.6×).

Google Trends data show that ChatGPT continues to be the most-searched AI-related term among Hungarian internet users. The comparison of search frequencies in this report uses the ChatGPT public launch at the end of 2022 as a reference point; even accounting for multiple competitors since then, domestic searches for ChatGPT are roughly three times more numerous than for Google Gemini.

When did interest peak?

According to the charts, the highest level of domestic interest in ChatGPT occurred in November 2025, when it reached its highest point on the 0–100 scale. The report also notes that modern AI has become widespread: between late 2022 and mid-2025 roughly 35 percent of newly published web pages were produced by AI.

Google Gemini and its search trend

Google’s Gemini model debuted at the end of 2023, about a year after ChatGPT’s broad public recognition. The Gemini term only began showing a noticeable rise in searches on the charts in early 2024. Although Gemini’s recognition has grown, Google Trends data indicate that in Hungary it still attracts about one-third the search volume of ChatGPT.

On a global level the gap is smaller: current worldwide figures show roughly a 1.6× difference in popularity between ChatGPT and Gemini. Notably, global interest in Gemini jumped sharply in September 2025, coinciding with a Gemini app update that added image-editing capabilities using the Nano Banana image-generation model.

Other players: Claude, Perplexity, X Grok and Anthropic Cloud

Besides ChatGPT and Gemini, other models accessible to Hungarian users include Anthropic’s Claude, Perplexity’s model and X’s Grok. Search volumes for these offerings have largely stagnated; an exception is Anthropic Cloud, which shows a spike in March 2026. The report links that uptick to media coverage suggesting the U.S. military used or planned operations involving an Anthropic-developed AI in relation to an Iran strike.

U.S. and global contexts

In the United States ChatGPT is also the most-searched term, though Gemini’s disadvantage is somewhat smaller there than in Hungary. Globally the difference between the two leaders narrows: the ChatGPT-to-Gemini popularity ratio is approximately 1.6 to 1.

Why these trends matter

Search trends illustrate the advantage of being first or most familiar to the public: ChatGPT’s breakout at the end of 2022 strongly shaped user attention. At the same time, ongoing product updates from Google and others — for example Gemini’s image-editing features — show that the competitive landscape remains dynamic.
