Micron Technology has reached an agreement to supply memory and storage devices to Anthropic, and participated as a strategic investor in the AI developer’s most recent financing round as it prepares for a public listing.
Micron said the two companies will jointly evaluate the performance of memory and storage systems across various AI computing workloads. As a major player in the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) market, Micron emphasized that memory and storage layers are critical to efficiently training and operating models such as Claude.
Tom Brown, Anthropic co‑founder and chief scientist, noted in reports that the success of their compute strategy depends on optimizing every layer of the architecture, with memory and storage playing a key role.
Internal use of Claude and expansion plans
Micron also reported that it has already deployed Claude models internally for coding assistance and agent-based processes across engineering, manufacturing, and corporate functions, and plans to extend these deployments further.
Anthropic’s funding and IPO steps
Anthropic has signed several deals in recent months to expand its compute capacity, including arrangements with CoreWeave, Broadcom, and SpaceX. The company announced on June 1 that it had confidentially submitted documents necessary for a U.S. initial public offering.
In its latest H-series financing round, Anthropic raised $65 billion in capital; following that round sources placed the company’s valuation at $965 billion.
