Meta plans public release of Muse Spark API later this month

Meta has repeatedly delayed the public release of the Muse Spark API, and according to the Wall Street Journal it had not set an official launch date until Tuesday. A company spokesperson told Reuters on Wednesday that Meta is already testing the application programming interface with a few initial partners and intends to make it available to the wider public later this month.

Background: Muse Spark and its unveiling

Meta introduced the Muse Spark model in April as the first product from its newly formed Superintelligence Labs. Alexandr Wang, head of Meta AI, also stated on the X social platform in April that the Muse Spark API was "coming soon."

Why this matters

Meta aims to narrow the gap with direct competitors such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Google through Muse Spark and related initiatives. In line with that effort, the company unveiled on Wednesday a new AI agent designed specifically for businesses to help streamline everyday business processes.

Sources and note

The reporting draws on Reuters and the Wall Street Journal. The most recent timing information comes from the Meta spokesperson’s Wednesday statement to Reuters: public access to the Muse Spark API is expected later this month.
