Meta publicly launched Muse Spark 1.1 on Thursday, a multimodal AI model developed with a focus on agentic coding. According to the company, Spark 1.1 can perform multistep reasoning, manage complex processes, coordinate digital workflows and deploy new features within enterprise systems.
Capabilities and intended uses
Meta pitches Muse Spark 1.1 as suitable for large agentic workloads, bug fixing and large-scale code migrations — types of automation that enterprises increasingly seek from AI providers. In a blog post, the company said, “Muse Spark 1.1 delivers exceptional performance in personal agentic tasks that require planning and orchestration across a range of external apps and services.”
Pricing and competition
Reuters reports Meta will charge $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens for Spark 1.1. That pricing places the model close to offerings such as Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5 and OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Luna, though slightly above those competitors.
Anthropic and OpenAI have offered similar agentic-capable models for some time, so Meta is entering an already active market. Cost of usage remains a central competitive factor in the AI industry, making price an important element of Meta’s positioning.
Executive messaging and product roadmap
The Muse Spark 1.1 release prompted Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to post on X for the first time in three years; his prior post was in July 2023 around the platform’s rebranding from Twitter to X. In his message Zuckerberg described Spark as “a strong agentic and coding model at a very low price,” adding that the model is “strongest at agentic performance, tool use, and computer use.” He also indicated there is “more to come soon,” suggesting additional model releases are planned.
A busy week for AI
Meta’s Muse Spark 1.1 arrived during a week with several notable AI announcements. Earlier in the week Meta introduced Muse Image, a new AI image-generation model. Other releases included a new version of Grok from SpaceXAI and OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 family, which also launched on Thursday. The flurry of releases highlights the ongoing, intense competition in the AI sector and the pressure on companies to distinguish their products.
