On November 18, 2025, Microsoft, NVIDIA and Anthropic revealed a multi‑part strategic partnership intended to scale Anthropic’s Claude language models, broaden access to those models and align hardware and software development for improved performance and efficiency.
What the deal includes
Anthropic committed to purchase $30 billion of Microsoft Azure compute capacity and to contract, initially, up to one gigawatt of additional compute capacity. That contracted compute will run on NVIDIA Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems. The arrangement is intended to enable large‑scale deployment of Claude models on Azure using NVIDIA hardware.
NVIDIA and Anthropic technology collaboration
For the first time, NVIDIA and Anthropic are entering a deep technology partnership. The companies will collaborate on design and engineering to optimize Anthropic’s models for performance, energy efficiency and total cost of ownership (TCO), and to tune future NVIDIA architectures for Anthropic workloads.
Expanded Microsoft–Anthropic cooperation and availability
Microsoft and Anthropic are expanding their existing relationship to provide broader business access to Claude. Customers of Microsoft Foundry will be able to use Anthropic’s frontier Claude models, including Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Opus 4.1 and Claude Haiku 4.5. According to the announcement, Claude will become the only frontier model available across all three of the world’s leading cloud services. Azure customers will gain additional model choice and access to Claude‑specific capabilities.
Microsoft also committed to continue offering access to Claude across its Copilot family, including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio.
Investment commitments
As part of the agreement, NVIDIA committed up to $10 billion and Microsoft up to $5 billion in investments in Anthropic.
Why this matters
The partnership secures long‑term compute capacity commitments for Anthropic’s model scaling and signals closer integration between chipmakers, cloud providers and model developers. Joint engineering work and hardware–software optimization are intended to improve model performance and cost efficiency for enterprise customers.
Additional note
The announcement emphasized that Amazon remains Anthropic’s primary cloud provider and training partner, so the new partnerships do not replace that existing relationship.
The companies publicly disclosed the partnership on November 18, 2025, covering cloud capacity, hardware collaboration and capital investment.
