Cursor IDE marketplace temporarily shut down after malware in modified Claude Code extension

A modified, malicious Claude Code VS Code extension was detected on the Cursor IDE marketplace, potentially affecting up to 5,000 users; the extension was not developed by Anthropic. According to the report, the marketplace was shut down this afternoon, the malware was neutralized and the marketplace restored; users are advised to update to version 2.1.314 and follow the removal guide described in the blog post.
