A representative survey commissioned by Sicontact Kft., the Hungarian distributor of ESET cybersecurity products, found that 80 percent of Hungarian companies have not addressed the introduction or regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace. At the same time, about two-thirds of employees already use some form of AI tool for private or work-related purposes.
How employees are using AI
The industry analysis titled “Is AI a problem? – Artificial intelligence, IT security and mental health” shows that 65 percent of AI users incorporate these tools into their work on their own initiative, while only 11 percent use employer-provided solutions. More than three quarters of respondents still associate artificial intelligence primarily with ChatGPT.
Trust, risk and the need for human oversight
The survey revealed notable concerns about AI:
- 77 percent of respondents fully agreed that AI-generated results should be checked by a human.
- 64 percent believe we place too much trust in AI recommendations.
- 91 percent consider there are tasks better performed by humans.
These figures indicate that, despite the growing use of AI tools, many users remain cautious about full automation and outsourcing decision-making to machines.
Data sharing and IT security
Nearly three quarters of respondents said data is shared too freely with AI, and 51 percent think the technology increases IT security risks. More than 70 percent said it is already difficult to distinguish AI-generated content from reality, and almost half of those surveyed believe the technology ‘‘dumbs down’’ users.
Methodology
The representative survey was conducted by Medián on a sample of 600 people in November 2025, commissioned by Sicontact Kft. The study focused on workplace AI adoption, user behaviour, and attitudes related to IT security and mental health.
