Nvidia takes 9.3% stake in Nebius, deepening its AI infrastructure foothold

Nvidia has announced a 9.3% equity stake in Nasdaq-listed Dutch company Nebius, a move that triggered a notable rise in the latter's shares, according to CNBC.

Nebius shares were up about 7 percent in pre-market trading. Over the past 12 months the company's stock has risen nearly 250 percent, and its market capitalization reached $46 billion by Tuesday morning.

Nvidia had earlier disclosed a $2 billion investment in the Dutch firm. Under the agreement, the two companies will work closely on building AI infrastructure, fleet management, inference workloads, and the design and operation of so-called AI factories.

This year Nebius has entered partnerships with several major technology firms. In March, Meta signed a long-term deal that could see the social media giant spend up to $27 billion on Nebius's AI infrastructure.

In recent years Nvidia has systematically taken stakes in promising AI developers. For example, the chipmaker contributed $30 billion to a financing round for OpenAI that was announced in March and totaling $110 billion, and it also participated in Anthropic's $30 billion capital raise in February.

The Nebius investment underscores Nvidia's expanding role in the AI infrastructure market and aligns with its strategy of combining strategic partnerships and capital commitments to extend its influence across the AI ecosystem.
