Reelful is a new iOS application that uses artificial intelligence to convert photos and short clips from a user’s camera roll into finished TikTok- and Instagram Reels–style videos. The app targets people who want to publish social content but find conventional video-editing tools too complex or time-consuming.
Founder and background
Reelful was founded by Kate Deyneka, a former machine learning engineer at Snapchat who worked on video and image models. The company is participating in a16z’s Speedrun program. Deyneka left Snapchat to build an agentic video editor that automates short-form video creation, removing the need to manually pick clips, add effects, record voiceovers, and fine-tune edits.
In an interview with TechCrunch she explained the motivation: “I want to post more on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, but video editing takes a lot of time, so much time that I do not even want to spend it because I have a lot of things going on in my life, especially now as an early-stage founder.” She emphasized that founders and busy professionals are a core target group.
How the app works
Users start by entering a prompt that describes the story they want to tell — for example a travel recap, product demo, or event highlight. They record a 30-second sample to create a voice clone and select photos and videos from their camera roll. Reelful then plans the video, writes the script, generates an AI voiceover, and assembles the final edit with captions, music, and sound effects.
The app can also animate still images into short AI-generated video clips. For instance, a photo of someone cutting a mango can be turned into a brief clip that shows the person slicing the fruit. AI-generated clips include a watermark indicating they were created with AI.
After the app produces a complete video, users can continue to refine it by chatting with the app to swap soundtracks, revise the script, or change other aspects of the production.
Target users and use cases
Deyneka says the current target audience is founders and business owners who need to produce content regularly to build their online presence, personal brand, or company brand. As an example, a salon in the Bay Area may have abundant photos and transformation content but lack the time or resources to turn that material into polished social videos — a use case Reelful aims to address.
Deyneka described a typical flow: you upload raw material while driving home from an event, and by the time you arrive, the finished video is ready. Her goal is to make sharing life, expertise, and content effortless without active editing on a laptop.
Pricing and availability
Reelful offers both one-time video credit bundles and subscription plans. Credit bundle prices are:
- 5 videos for $15
- 15 videos for $43
- 33 videos for $90
Subscription plans are:
- Creator: $25/month — 10 videos per month
- Pro: $50/month — 25 videos per month
- Studio: $100/month — 60 videos per month
The app is currently available only on iOS; Kate Deyneka plans Android and web versions for the future.
Why it matters
Reelful’s approach reflects a broader shift toward AI-driven automation in content creation, enabling users to produce polished short-form videos with less manual effort. It enters a growing field alongside other AI startups such as Opus Clip and Captions that are reshaping how creators and businesses generate social video content. The inclusion of AI-generated clips with a watermark and the voice-clone feature also raise questions about transparency and permissions, but the immediate practical effect is to lower the barrier to creating regular social-video output.
