At Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in London, Samsung outlined the next stage of its digital health strategy, emphasizing preventive, personalized care enabled by artificial intelligence and connected devices. In addition to unveiling new hardware—the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Flip8, Watch9 and Watch Ultra2—the company hosted a panel titled “Rewriting the Rules of Preventive Healthcare.”
Panel and key messages
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Hon Pak, head of Samsung Electronics’ digital health business. Panelists included experts in nutrition, fitness, clinical research and artificial intelligence. They focused on how modern technologies can help users achieve long-term health goals.
Dr. Pak noted that although digital devices can collect unprecedented amounts of health data, rates of chronic disease continue to rise. He argued that sheer data volume does not improve health unless it leads to real lifestyle changes.
Two connection gaps
Dr. Pak highlighted two current shortcomings:
- Continuous monitoring and effective routing of health data to clinicians: everyday decisions, made outside clinical settings, largely determine people’s health, so continuous data flows to health professionals are important.
- Implementation: a diagnosis or medical recommendation alone is insufficient if users cannot translate those recommendations into sustained daily habits.
Connected Care: ecosystem and partnerships
Samsung said its ecosystem—which includes wearables, smartphones and related services—can do more than gather data; it can help interpret relationships between data points. The objective is to provide personalized support tailored to a user’s current situation and habits.
Dr. Pak emphasized that no single technology company can solve these challenges alone. Under the Connected Care concept, Samsung is collaborating with healthcare and technology partners to link prevention, continuous monitoring and everyday lifestyle support using artificial intelligence.
Three focus areas: habits, clinical credibility, AI
The panel concentrated on three main themes:
- Supporting everyday habits: turning clinical recommendations into durable behavioral changes.
- Clinical credibility and data privacy: digital health solutions need clinical validation and trustworthy data protections.
- Role of advanced AI: beyond data collection, AI can generate personalized, proactive support.
Why it matters
Samsung’s announcement signals the company’s intent to build comprehensive health solutions, not just devices, with a preventive and everyday-support orientation. The strategy stresses partnerships, clinical validation and data privacy while expanding AI’s role in interpreting user data and enabling personalized interventions.
