Schneider Electric and Motivair by Schneider Electric have completed the on-schedule delivery of more than $290 million in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure solutions to TeraWulf’s Lake Mariner data center. The programme converts the existing site and power infrastructure into a next-generation digital infrastructure hub designed for the demands of AI workloads.
Capacity and location
Following the upgrades, the Lake Mariner facility is expected to be able to serve up to 750 MW of power demand. The campus is located in Barker, near Buffalo in New York state, and leverages Motivair’s liquid-cooling solutions together with Schneider Electric’s integrated power infrastructure to support high-performance computing (HPC), cloud and AI workloads.
The site is supplied from New York state’s regional electric grid, where the reported energy mix is roughly 89 percent carbon-free, low-emission energy. In addition, the facility has significant surplus energy capacity to serve large HPC and AI customer loads.
Technical scope and integration
The project combined detailed technical design, engineering, advanced energy infrastructure, innovative cooling technologies and supporting software and services. Schneider Electric supplied Galaxy VX uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), Galaxy lithium-ion battery systems and NetShelter racks and enclosures. Motivair provided liquid distribution units (CDUs), rack-integrated piping and chilled doors.
For advanced monitoring and digital intelligence, Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert software was integrated. Motivair’s “Client Services” were used for risk forecasting, minimizing disruptions and maximising the efficiency of cooling investments.
Timing and collaboration
TeraWulf aimed to deploy multiple AI-specific data centers on the campus within a 12-month timeframe, so Schneider Electric and Motivair, as strategic energy-technology partners, adhered to strict construction and operational deadlines and provided technical design and engineering advisory services during the rollout.

Manish Kumar, Executive Vice President of Schneider Electric’s “Secure Power & Data Centers” division, emphasised the importance of reducing “time to power”: as AI infrastructure demand accelerates, operators need partners who can align advanced infrastructure, services and energy-technology expertise to speed delivery of large-scale AI data centers.
Why this matters
The Lake Mariner upgrade demonstrates how on-site power, AI-enabled automation, advanced liquid cooling and digital intelligence can be combined at a former industrial site to enable rapid deployment of scalable, efficient data center capacity. The facility’s principal tenants, Core42 and Fluidstack (which is supported by Google), hold long-term lease agreements that underpin utilisation and operational stability.
Overall, the project highlights the role of integrated power, cooling and digital management in accelerating the build-out of AI-ready data centers to meet growing demand.
