Schneider Electric has unveiled prefabricated power modules and frames specifically designed to accelerate and scale power delivery for hyperscale and AI‑ready data centers. The solutions are built around the company’s latest Galaxy VXL (GVXL) UPS technology and provide up to 2.5 megawatts (MW) per module.
The challenge and the proposed fix
As AI workloads proliferate, data‑center operators face growing pressure to deploy high‑density infrastructure quickly. Conventional, bespoke power solutions often take 12–14 months to deliver, slowing capacity expansion. Schneider Electric says its standardized, prefabricated approach streamlines specification, engineering and procurement, enabling manufacture of power infrastructure in as little as six months.
Technical details and design
The new portfolio includes dedicated module and frame configurations rated at 2 MW, 2.25 MW and 2.5 MW. The designs follow Schneider Electric and NVIDIA reference plans for the GB300 NVL72 platform, including integrated energy management and liquid‑cooling controls. The ‘‘power‑block’’ concept allows multiple modules to be deployed side‑by‑side so customers can scale capacity to multiple tens of megawatts.
Prefabricated power frames ship as factory‑tested assemblies that integrate Schneider Electric components such as the Galaxy VXL UPS, switchgear, cooling systems, lithium‑ion battery technology and power distribution. Frames intended for white‑space, indoor deployments provide the same core electrical infrastructure in an open format.
The modular systems can be combined with IT pods to deliver a complete AI‑ready infrastructure platform that aligns with Schneider Electric’s AI reference designs and NVIDIA‑based reference architectures.
Manufacturing and testing in Barcelona
The modules and frames are designed, manufactured and tested at Schneider Electric’s Sant Boi de Llobregat site near Barcelona. The facility was recently expanded to meet growing global demand for modular data‑center infrastructure; it features 5,000 m² of production‑dedicated space and serves as a key European center for the EcoStruxure Modular Data Center portfolio.
With more than 15 years of experience in modular data centers and prefabricated power infrastructure, Schneider Electric is extending its AI‑ready portfolio, which covers power, cooling, racks, software, modular infrastructure and integrated AI reference architectures.
Availability
According to the company, the new power solutions are available in Europe now. North American availability is planned later this year, with additional international markets and the Asia‑Pacific region to follow.
People and quote
Polóny Tibor, head of Schneider Electric’s "Secure Power & Data Centers" business in Hungary, said: “Data‑center operators today are under immense pressure to bring AI‑compatible infrastructure online faster, more efficiently and at greater scale. By standardizing our prefabricated power systems and incorporating our Galaxy VXL UPS technology, we enable hyperscale, neocloud and colocation providers to deploy scalable, high‑density power infrastructure in months rather than years.”
The announcement emphasizes alignment with Schneider Electric and NVIDIA reference designs and the solutions’ suitability for high‑performance computing (HPC), AI training and GPU‑intensive workloads.
