Siemens says the next generation of smart buildings will move beyond mere reaction to environmental changes and will proactively and autonomously support comfort, efficiency and sustainability. For example, a modern office building can automatically prepare meeting rooms by selecting the best space based on calendar entries, attendee counts and individual preferences, then setting the optimal temperature and humidity.
This approach underpins Siemens’ newest product, Asset Performance Advanced. The solution goes beyond flagging already occurred faults: it can predict potential issues, determine likely root causes and automatically initiate the required corrective actions.
Asset Performance Advanced continuously monitors buildings’ mechanical equipment as well as heating and cooling systems. When an anomaly is detected, the system automatically prioritizes tasks and routes them to the appropriate personnel — either the building’s in-house operations team or Siemens service experts.
Where traditional systems typically only report faults after they happen, the AI-supported solution recognizes early warning signs. That capability helps reduce the risk of unexpected failures, costly emergency repairs and operational downtime, while also improving tenant satisfaction.
The platform links fault prediction, rapid decision-making and actual intervention into a single workflow, combining artificial intelligence analytics with expert knowledge and service support. The service is particularly useful in facilities where technical failures can have significant operational or business consequences, such as office buildings, industrial sites and healthcare institutions.
According to Siemens, the preventive maintenance approach can cut maintenance costs by up to 50 percent compared with traditional reactive “break-and-fix” practices. The service is available as part of the Siemens Building X digital building management platform.
