Google is expanding the AI mode of its Search product with features aimed at helping users plan and book travel. According to the company's announcement, the Search AI now includes capabilities specifically designed to assist people who want to travel.
Integration with Google Flights and offer aggregation
A key addition is the integration of Google Flights. When a user tells the chatbot where and when they want to fly, the Search AI can present offers drawn from Google Flights data, covering more than 300 airlines and travel agencies.
Price tracking and email alerts
The Search AI can track prices on request: if a user asks the system to monitor fares or other travel-related costs, it will send an email notification when changes occur that affect the trip.
Displaying costs in reward points and completing bookings
Prices can be shown not only in conventional currency but also in loyalty or reward points where airlines or hotels support such redemption. In addition, the Google AI can handle the booking process itself, and users can pay via Google Pay.
Rollout and regional limitation
Google has begun rolling out these features, but the European Union is not included at this time. Google says it needs to refine the system so that it complies with the EU's strict legal requirements.
Why this matters
These updates expand Search from information retrieval toward end-to-end travel planning and transaction handling on a single AI-driven interface. However, legal compliance and phased regional rollout will determine when and where the features become widely available.
