On Monday President Donald Trump firmly rejected growing calls for stricter regulation of artificial intelligence and sharply criticized Dario Amodei, the chief executive officer of Anthropic, CNBC reported.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that the only control or "limit" AI needs is "a STRONG AND SMART (high IQ!) PRESIDENT," and said the United States already has that. He characterized Amodei as attempting to present himself as a "perfect little angel," while arguing the government has so far prevented actors in the AI sector from doing "bad things."
Trump also asserted that the government already has "tremendous criminal and regulatory power" over leading AI companies and can use it as needed. He claimed there is a "sick conspiracy" underway against artificial intelligence and data centers, a development he said would please only China.
Administration favors rapid growth and domestic data centers
The Trump administration has consistently promoted rapid expansion of the AI sector and supports building large data centers on U.S. soil. The administration argues that competing for AI dominance is a national priority, which justifies encouraging technological and infrastructure investment.
Anthropic has not yet responded to Trump’s post.
