Viber has integrated ChatGPT-based tools into its app for users in Hungary, making AI-powered helpers accessible directly within conversations and other parts of the app. The rollout is staged — the features are being introduced progressively on Viber's Android and iPhone apps and will arrive later on the desktop and browser versions.
What the AI tools do
The new features aim to make AI accessible even to people who have never used an AI assistant before. Available capabilities include:

Dedicated ChatGPT contact and tab: ChatGPT appears as its own contact and in a separate tab where users can ask questions, search, request help with tasks, or brainstorm without leaving Viber. A ChatGPT account is not required to start, but users may sign in or create an account to access higher usage limits.

Invoking ChatGPT in private or group chats: ChatGPT can be added directly to a conversation by typing "@" and selecting ChatGPT from the menu. Its replies are visually distinct from other messages, and participants can respond to the AI's output. Viber states it shares only the specific message sent to the AI, not the entire conversation.

Image Remix (ChatGPT Images): users can edit and personalize photos inside individual and group chats. The tool lets users change style, add creative elements, or adapt a photo for special occasions. Viber also provides pre-made templates to help users get started. To use Image Remix, users must sign in to ChatGPT within the app or create a one-time free account; no paid subscription is required.

Link Summary: the feature generates summaries of shared articles, blog posts, or documents; the summary is available via a button displayed beneath the link. This function is enabled by default in group conversations.

Chat Summary: users can request a private summary of a busy conversation with a single tap; the summary is visible only to the requester. This helps keep track of key points or agreed tasks for events like school trips or workplace updates.

Message polishing and translation: tapping the pen icon lets users rephrase messages before sending to adjust tone and clarity. The same interface provides AI-powered translation for quick, in-app language conversion.
Access, registration and cost
Users need the latest version of the Viber app to access the new tools. Most of the functions become available after rollout without requiring registration or login. The Image Remix feature requires signing into ChatGPT within the app or creating a free one-time account. No paid subscription is necessary for the basic use of these features.
Why it matters
