Global stock markets rose on Tuesday after Anthropic published its long-awaited IPO prospectus, renewing optimism around AI-related investments. In the filing the frontier AI firm said revenue in the first half of the year increased fourteenfold versus the same period in 2025, and disclosed a $112 billion cash balance.
Growth alongside large losses
The prospectus also showed the company recorded an $80 billion loss over the same period. That substantial loss did not deter investors: the tech-heavy Nasdaq rose by more than 1% during the session.
Market outlook and risks
Many market participants hope that Big Tech earnings due this week will help further stabilize a market that has grown cautious about heavy AI spending. At the same time, some warn of downside risk — comparing the situation to China, where a cooling AI bubble has erased nearly $500 billion from technology firms’ valuations.
Why it matters
Anthropic’s filing highlights the dual nature of the AI sector: rapid revenue scaling can coincide with heavy operating losses as firms invest to expand. The market’s positive reaction shows optimism currently outweighs concern, but upcoming corporate results and broader global trends will be important in determining whether that optimism is sustained.
