Apple introduced a revamped Apple Health app alongside the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The updated app leverages Apple Intelligence to organize health data into clearer, personalized insights and guidance.
Key features
-
Insights tab: summarizes the most timely health information and provides personalized guidance and assessments. The tab also surfaces a new readiness score.
-
Health Age: the app computes a “Health Age” to show how a user’s health metrics compare with their chronological age. The calculation uses inputs such as VO2 max, sleep data, and blood-based biomarkers.
-
Longevity tab: evaluates health across domains like sleep, movement and heart health using metrics from the Apple Watch and iPhone.
Lab results and Quest partnership
Apple said lab results can be incorporated into the app’s guidance. It also announced a collaboration with Quest to offer a 50-biomarker panel for $119, providing users faster access to data that require laboratory testing.
Personalized recommendations and movement assessments
With Apple Intelligence, the Health app can produce practical suggestions — for example, recommending more intervals during a morning run to improve cardiovascular fitness. Apple said the app will go deeper into fitness and heart-health areas.
The app also supports in-depth movement assessments, useful for older adults or people recovering from injury. During an assessment, a trainer can demonstrate moves for the user to try, an experience Apple compares to having a coach present.
Availability
The updated Apple Health app will roll out later this year, starting in U.S. English.
