Blacksmith reaches $1 billion valuation after $66M Series C led by Sequoia

Blacksmith, a platform that helps companies build and test software more efficiently — including code written by AI — announced on Wednesday that it raised $66 million in a Series C financing round led by Sequoia. The new round values the company at $1 billion.

Aditya Jayaprakash, co-founder and CEO of Blacksmith, said the company was created to make continuous integration (CI) — the process of building, testing, merging, and validating code changes — "less painful." In a blog post he added that "most companies are struggling to keep up with the volume of CI they need to run," especially as more code is written by AI. "As agents write more of the world’s software, the question that matters is whether it can be trusted," he wrote.

The company reported that its annual recurring revenue (ARR) has grown 17x and that it has run over 90 million CI jobs, defined as individual automated code checks. Customers named by Blacksmith include Mercury and Granola.

This Series C round follows a $45 million Series B closed two months earlier, which had valued the company at $550 million. A year ago Blacksmith was valued at $60 million after a $10 million Series A. The company has raised $125 million in total to date.

Why this matters

The rapid fundraising and short interval between rounds indicate investor confidence in tools that address CI and AI-generated code verification. The reported metrics — 17x ARR growth and more than 90 million CI jobs run — provide concrete evidence of Blacksmith’s traction and usage intensity.
